Charles Mitchell Sheets

1951 - 2013

— On September 23, 1951 in Warren, Ohio, a second child was born to Carl and Mary Ann (Givens) Sheets. They named him Charles Mitchell. The family soon moved to Muskogee, OK where Chuck was raised with his older brother and two younger sisters.  He attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1969.  In that same year, he married and became a step-father to Michael. In 1970, he became a father to Chris and in 1975 to Charles Isaac.  In 1987, he married the love of his life, Deanna Livingston and became a step-father once again to her two boys Tobias and Joshua.  He worked for Fort Howard and retired from Georgia Pacific after 28 years in 2005.

If you knew Chuck, you were blessed.  He was a kind man with a good heart.  Chuck enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. Though bowling in leagues at Green Country Lanes was his favorite, he also enjoyed good music, playing poker, raising and selling koi, building koi ponds, making fudge and smoking a mean rack of ribs.  He took great pleasure in hosting holiday cookouts that gave him the opportunity to fire up the smoker/grill.  He and Deanna owned a small horse ranch and loved to travel to Sedona, Arizona until she became ill and passed away in November of 2009.

Chuck passed away on January 3, 2013 in Tulsa with family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna, of 22 years; his parents, Carl Calvin and Mary Ann Sheets; and his little sister, Teresa.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren; his oldest son, Chris and wife Deena and Grandpa to their boys, Logan and Chance of Muskogee, his youngest son, Ike and wife Amie and Peepaw to their boys, Gavin, Isaac and Eli of Muskogee.  He is also survived by stepsons, Michael O’Keefe of Mississippi, Tobias Livingston and daughter, Ashlen of Colorado and Joshua Livingston and daughters, Reiley and Isabella of Tulsa, his older brother, Gary and wife Karen of Tulsa, little sister, Carla Hill of Bixby; five nieces; two nephews; and good friend, Melody Roberts of Hulbert.

A memorial service for Chuck will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Kelly Payne officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com
