Marshall Black

1914 - 2013


— Marshall Black was born in Seguine, Texas to Solomon and Creama Fennell Black, October 23, 1914.

He traveled to Oklahoma in 1916 with his parents in a covered wagon to Dustin, Oklahoma. He made his home in Muskogee in 1945. Marshall worked for the State of Oklahoma for over twenty years. He loved to farm and take care of his cows. He raised cattle until he was ninety-seven years old. He was married to the late Cleo Watley who preceded him in death. In 1941, Marshall married Alice McDow who also preceded him in death.

Those he leaves to cherish him are four generations. His three children, Maline Hughes, Curtis Black and Ethel Ballard. Ten grandchildren, eighteen great -grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Black are scheduled for Saturday, January 26th, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at New Life Ministries, Taft,  with Rev. Michael Gaulden, Sr., host pastor. Rev. Roscoe Beasley of Blackjack Baptist Church will officiate. He will be laid to rest in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. Hours of Visitation will be today from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
