Bobby Lee Perry


Funeral services for Bobby Lee Perry, age 70, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma,  were  held 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah.  

Bobby Lee Perry was born June 7, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Robert Mack and Helen Smith Perry.   He died Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

He and Mary Lee Richerson were married on December 18, 1965.

Mr. Perry grew up in Muskogee.  He later received his Bachelor Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  He did his graduate work at Fort Hayes State University in Kansas and at the University of Oklahoma.

Bob and Mary started their teaching careers at Many Farms, Arizona. He also taught at public schools in Independence, Missouri, Albuquerque, New Mexico,  Tohatchi, New Mexico and Garden City, Kansas.

Starting in 1981, he served as principal of the Ninnekah Elementary School . He retired in 2005 from the Chickasha Public Schools where he had served as a teacher and elementary principal.

Mr. Perry has served the City of Ninnekah on the City Council for over 25 years. He was currently serving as the mayor of Ninnekah. He had served on the ASCOG board for a number of years and as president at one time.

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Ninnekah where he served as a deacon and many  various positions in his church.

Mr. Perry worked on old cars and attended Classic Car Shows.  He loved the outdoors and hunting, camping and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Joe Perry.

Survivors include:

His wife:  Mary L. Perry of the home in Ninnekah; two sons: Craig Perry; Brian Perry and wife, Rhonda; one brother: Paul Perry; two sisters: Carol Simmons and husband Darrel; Betty Eubanks and husband Raymond; sister-in-law: Jewel Perry; two grandchildren; Ethan Perry and Jocelyn Perry; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Interment was in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah, Leukemia–Lymphoma  Society.
