Alvie Mae Biles, 92 year old Warner resident, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Muskogee. She was born on Tuesday, May 3, 1921 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to David and Beulah Davis Perryman.
As a young girl, she moved with her family to Checotah where she received her education. She met, fell in love and married John Biles on Tuesday, July 20, 1937 at Shady Grove. She became a homemaker. They moved to Texas, later moving back to Checotah before settling in Tulsa. She worked in the kitchen at a local nursing home and later began working at Owen Elementary in the maintenance department and while living Tulsa, they attended Rose Lawn Baptist Church. In 1982 they moved back to Checotah, settling in Warner, OK.
Alvie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and even a great-great grandmother. Her family was her life, always preparing Sunday dinner for her family, canning from her garden and making jellies. She enjoyed her pets and her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Alvie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; son-in-law, August Martin; daughter-in-law, Linda Biles.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 76 years, John of the home; children, Roy Biles of Dallas, TX, Helen Martin of Checotah, OK, Raymond Biles of Wagoner, OK; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Biles, Julie Biles, Lisa Biles-Liberato, Joyce Halsted and her husband Ernie, Julie Coe, Wesley Biles, Shannon Guthrie and Tyler Biles; nineteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two step- granddaughters, Wendy Carter and Jennifer Simmons, numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services for Alvie will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Keefton Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Cardell Coppin, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Warner Memorial Cemetery, Warner, OK under the personal direction of John Garrett. Wesley Biles, Ryan Biles, Tommy Moffett, Bradon Coe, Ernie Halsted and Eian Halsted will serve as Casket Bearers.
