Rosetta Bills Stratford

In Taft Oklahoma, Rosetta Bills was born on October 12th, 1950.  She was one of six children born to the loving union of Sherman and Mary Tate Bills.  Rosetta attended and graduated from Moton High School in the class of 1965.  During her high school years she met her lifelong sweetheart and companion, Mr. Willard “Pete” Stratford.  On December 24th, 1965, she married Pete and they raised two beautiful daughters.  During this time Rosetta furthered her education by enrolling at Bacone College where she received her nursing degree.  She went to work at Muskogee General Hospital where she served as a pediatric nurse for over forty years.  She truly loved being with the babies and would keep her family laughing for hours about all the things the babies did each day.  Having professed a love for the Lord at a young age, she was baptized and united with Saint Paul Baptist Church.  Later with her own family, she attended First Christian Church.  Rosetta later moved to York Street Christian Church where she was an active and faithful member.  Along with Pete, Rosetta enjoyed watching sports, especially her teams OU and the Dallas Cowboys.  She also had a passion for cooking, sewing and most of all spending time with her family.  After spending forty years together, the joyous union of Pete and Rosetta came to a end with his death on September 30th, 2013.  Rosetta struggled to go, but her faith and family helped her cope.  Later, being worn down with ill health, she became a resident of Brentwood Extended Care.  On September 30th, 2013, three years to the same date as Pete’s death, Rosetta left us to be with Pete and other family members.

Other family members she joined are her parents, Sherman and Mary Bills, one brother, Bobby Bills, and one nephew, Oscar Bills Jr.

Those she leaves behind to reflect on their memories of her include her two daughters, Darlene Stratford, Tulsa, OK, and Earlene Stratford Williams, Muskogee, OK.  Three grandchildren, Natalie, Ciont’e, and Tatayana.  Three brothers, Oscar Lee Bills and wife Charlie Mae, Albert Bills and wife Virginia, all of Kansas CIty, MO, and George Bills Sr., Boley,OK, Sister Mary Bills, Broken Arrow, OK.  Sister-in-law, Charlene Stratford, Los Angeles, CA, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorial services for Rosetta will be held Saturday, October 5th, 2013, 11:00 AM at the Ragsdale Chapel of Respect with Rev. Franklin Taft, Officiating.  A private burial will be held later.  Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
