Bertha Mae Littrell

1924-2013

Bertha Mae Littrell, 89, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013.  She was born April 7, 1924 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Roy and Carrie Isom.  Bertha attended Crowder School from 1st grade to 12th grade, from which she graduated as salutatorian.  She met and later married Murry Littrell.  They moved to NYC while Murry was in the Coast Guard during WWII.  While there, Bertha worked as a secretary.   Bertha and Murry later moved to Muskogee where they opened their own business, Murry’s Nissan. She retired in the year 2000 after more than 50 years as co-owner and bookkeeper.  Bertha was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Muskogee for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 of those years.  

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Carrie Isom; her husband, Murry Littrell; her sister, Helen Gaskin; and her brother, Roy Isom.

She is survived by her sons, Dan Littrell and wife, Sharon, Jim Littrell and wife, Judy, all of Muskogee; granddaughters, Liza Simmons and husband, Ray of Fort Gibson, Lindsey Connor and husband, Bo, Erin Turner and husband, Matt, all of Tulsa, her grandsons, Logan Littrell and wife, Cindy of Muskogee, Seth Littrell and wife, Becca of Bloomington, IN.; seven great grandchildren, Sophie, Littie, Kylie, Keaton, Harry, Tripp, and Elle; brother-in-law, Marvin Gaskin; nephew, Ray Gaskin and wife, Suzann; other family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Bertha’s life will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Woods officiating.  

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com
