Funeral services for Eugene “Gene” Jennings, 79, of Fort Gibson, OK, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee with Will Gordon officiating.

Gene was born September 2, 1934 at Mellette, OK, the son of John and Evelyn (Scott) Jennings and died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at his home in Fort Gibson. On January 5, 1954 he married Lavada Martin in Ada, OK. Prior to retirement, Gene was a mobile home mover. He was a former mayor of Fort Gibson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lavada of the home; children, Jeanie Beavers and husband, Joe, of Gore, Ronald Jennings and wife, Rebecca, Cindy Allison and husband, Larry, Randy Jennings and wife, Kim, and Rhonda Jennings all of Fort Gibson; sister, Eula Mae Jackson of Ada; brothers, J. W. “Dub” Jennings of Bakersfield, CA, Vester Jennings of Roland; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill House and Louis Jennings; sister, Jessie Cunningham; and grandchild, Daniel Turner.
