Jettie Lee Hood 1922 – 2013

Jettie Lee Hood, 91, of Muskogee, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013.  She was born on November 2, 1922 in Alex, Arkansas to William A. Sampley and Lennie Marie (Qualls) Sampley.  She grew up in Southwest Arkansas where she attended school in Alex.  Jettie and Thurman J. Hood married on August 23, 1942, in Clarksville, Arkansas.

In 1946, the family moved to Muskogee. Jettie was a member of Honor Heights United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ronald Ackerman; granddaughter, Shanda McClendon; daughter, Kathleen McClendon and her husband, Thurman Hood.  Jettie is survived by daughter, Joyce Ackerman of Memphis, TN; son-in-law, Coy McClendon of Moore, OK; four grandchildren: Leanne McFarland, Jeff Ackerman, Steven Ackerman and Emily McClendon and six great-grandchildren: Jordyn Ackerman, Rebeka Ackerman, Mikaela McFarland, Ronnie Ackerman, Travis Ackerman and Jazmine McFarland.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
