Gladys Virginia (Cobb) Spotts

1928-2013

— Gladys Virginia (Cobb) Spotts, of Haskell, Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 7, 2013, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 13 days. Gladys was born June 25, 1928, to John and Mae Belle (Leist) Cobb in Boynton, Oklahoma. She attended school in Wainwright before the family moved to Haskell in 1938. Gladys graduated with the Class of 1945 at the age of 16, and immediately went to work at the First National Bank of Haskell where she worked for 25 ? years before retirement. After 4 months of retirement she grew restless and took a position at Citizens National Bank & Trust (now Bank of Oklahoma) in Muskogee, where she continued another 14 years.

As a devoted and active member of the Central Church of Christ in Haskell, she taught bible classes and hosted numerous teen activities and devotionals in her home.

She married Donald E. Spotts on February 26, 1949, and they spent 55 years of marriage together until his death on October 25, 2004.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mae Cobb and two sisters, Pauline Shue and Joan Cobb.

Gladys is survived by her son Ronald (Linda) Spotts, of Muskogee, daughter, Gloria (Steve) McDaniel of Ft Gibson, one brother, Carl (Charlotte) Cobb of Bixby. Five grandsons, Nick Meschberger, Cody Meschberger, Jared (Marla) Meschberger, Adam Spotts, William (Ami) Spotts, two step-grandsons, Stevie (Kristy) McDaniel and Jason (Anita) McDaniel, 10 great grandchildren, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Central Church of Christ in Haskell with Henry Petree officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dowdy Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.  

Pallbearers will be Andy Scott, Clark Qualls, Don Cunningham, Everett Cole, Jim Hargrove, and Wayne Osburn.  

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the employees and patients at DaVita Dialysis Center in Muskogee, where Gladys formed many memorable bonds. We would also like to thank the employees of House Calls Home Health and Ft Gibson Nursing Home who also went above and beyond with an excellent quality of care.
