Willis Alvin “Buddy” George Sr. died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 in Fort Gibson Nursing Home at the age of 67. Buddy was born July 13, 1946 in Ben Hur, Arkansas, to Mitchell and Lucia (Casolaro) George.
He grew up and attended schools in Muskogee, graduating in 1964. He shared his love of fishing and nature with his 3 children. Buddy also enjoyed listening to music, dancing and reading. Known as “Wiggle Worm,” he spent many hours communicating with his extended CB radio family.
Buddy also enjoyed cooking and worked at Lindenloft's Pizza when his children were young. He held a variety of other jobs including working at Robert’s Restaurant on York Street, Andy's TV Repair, Anderson, Muskogee Glass Co. and McDonald's.
Although he did not have a church he attended regularly, he considered himself a Freewill Baptist and cherished his relationship with God during his long walks in Spaulding Park and on the property he grew up on and lived most of his life.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Mitchell George; his brother, Cary Lee George; a sister, Frances Harris; step-father, Frank Swartzbaugh and “Aunt Arbie.”
Buddy is survived by the following: his mom, Lucia Swartzbaugh, who he was able to spend time with the last 2 years while in the nursing home; a son, Willis George Jr.; two daughters, Melissa Randolph and Mollie Goosman and her husband, Robert; grandchildren include Nikki Lee George, Kyrstin Willey, Micah Galloway, Megan Willis, Jaycie Ray, Amanda and Emily Goosman; great grandchildren, Jacob, Cloey and Brycen Galloway and Kaylee and Kooper Willey, and a nephew, Gary Harris.; other family members and friends.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York St., with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating.
