Ruth Mary (Carr) Cox

1922 - 2013

Ruth Mary (Carr) Cox, 91, of Muskogee, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Eastgate Village Health Care Center.

She was born April 22, 1922 at Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Thomas Henry and Minnie Mae (Austin) Carr.

She married Robert Olaf Cox on September 9, 1939. In 1952, they moved to Anaconda, Montana where she worked for F.W. Woodworth Co. They returned to Oklahoma in 1980.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Warren of Muskogee; granddaughter and husband, Kristi and Tim Karnes of Miami, OK; grandson, Michael Lemley of Muskogee; six great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Lucille Seifert of Corpus Christi, TX, Juanita Rush of Muskogee, Peggy and brother-in-law, Rev. Harry Dodd of Owasso, OK and brother-in-law, Robert Wilson of Muskogee.

Preceding her in death were husband, Robert Olaf Cox; sisters, Katie Peterson and husband Andrew, Tressie Woodard and husband Johnny, Irene Schulze and husband Sam, and Edith Wilson and brothers-in-law, Walter Seifert and Dave Rush.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery at Checotah.
