Edsel Leon Roberts

1922 - 2013

— Edsel Leon Roberts entered the gates of Heaven on February 20, 2013. He left this Earth surrounded by his family in his home.

He was born September 1, 1922 in Elm Grove, OK, the son of Bertha Lamascus and Thomas Roberts.

Edsel was a graduate of Webbers Falls High School. He attended Connors State College until his enlistment in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served aboard the USS Rochambeau in the South Pacific Theatre during WWII. On September 3, 1949 he married Jayne Owen. He was a trucker and owner of Rainbow Farms, Inc., a large farm in southern Muskogee County. Edsel was a member of Elm Grove Assembly of God Church for over 30 years, where he served as teacher for the adult Sunday School class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Tom; and three brothers, Olma, Roy, and Theodore.

Edsel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jayne; daughter, Marshea Halterman, her sons, Mosby Halterman and Cody Halterman; son, David Roberts and wife, Trisa, his children, Jeremy Roberts, Karly Roberts, Jason Roberts and wife, Rachal, their children, Rianna and Veronica; son, Tommy Roberts and wife, Sheila, their children, Hannah Roberts, Nathan Roberts, Sarah Cox and husband, Alan, and their son, Hayden; daughter, Cherie Eubanks and husband, Hugh, and their daughter, Leah Eubanks; sister, Henrietta (Roberts) Vaden of Anchorage, AK; nieces and nephews; and Charles "Dobbin" Harnage, best friend for over 70 years.

Services will be Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church with Reverend Clyde Powell officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Clark, John Dill, Bobby Herriman, Mike Hogner, Dan Lindsey, and Clay Nichols. Honorary pallbearers include, Doug Vaden, Johnny Hall, J.B. Herriman, Donnie Halterman, Larry Owen, Biggie Johnson, Bill Dugan, and Went Weston. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
