Roberta Beatrice Jessee


— Roberta Beatrice Jessee, 77, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 in Tulsa with her family at her side.  She was born April 22, 1935 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Stanton and Essene Luke.  Roberta grew up in the Checotah area where she met and later married Floyd Lee Jessee on September 10, 1951. They were married for 61 years and made their home in Muskogee, OK. Roberta raised four children, three daughters and one son before she later entered the work force.

Roberta and her husband attended and were memebers of Fairview Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK for many years sharing the love of their Lord and Savior with family and friends. Roberta loved to plant and grow flowers and had some beautiful flower beds in the front of their home.

Roberta was proceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lee; parents, Stanton and Essene Luke; her infant son, Daniel Lee; sisters, Gladys Shatswell, Wanda Wanzer and Deloris Smith; brother-in-laws, Olin Wanzer and Euliss Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy and husband Joe, Sandy and husband Roger, Cheryl and husband Sonny; son, Mark and wife Judy. She is also survived by her sister Louise and husband Ray Courtney of California; brother-in-law, Carl Shatswell; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, all of whom were the love and joy of her life, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Serving as pallbearers are Alisha Jones, Jarrod Hall, Zach Hall, Jacob Elledge, Timothy Thompson and Nicholas Martin.

Services will be held Thursday March 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at Fairview Baptist Church with Mr. Bobby Sowers officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
