Wayne “Big Hoss” Arterburn

1936-2013

Wayne Arterburn, 76, died Friday, April 26, 2013 in Muskogee, OK.  He was born on June 4, 1936 in Inglewood, CA to James H. and Amelia (Frazer) Arterburn.  In 1954, Wayne moved to Muskogee from Huntsville, AL and graduated from Muskogee High in 1955.  Wayne was a long time member of the Cruising Angels Car Club, a member of the National Guard for 14 years and retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas after 42 years of service.

 Wayne is survived by wife, Linda; brothers, James and wife Doris, Charles and wife Kathy; children, Teresa and husband John Sawyer, Tina Cronan, Shannon West and husband Shaun Culbert, Shannon and wife Shelley Arterburn, JW and wife Jennifer Arterburn;  12 grandchildren, Connor Arterburn, Corban Arterburn, Lyndzey Goff, Kelsey West, Abbey West, Levi Dawes, Reagan Arterburn, Jacob Tillman, Jerad Mattingly, Layla Beasley, Cody Hughey and Chloe Croman; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Shannon, John Arterburn; and sister, Janice Arterburn.

 A graveside service celebrating the life of R. Wayne Arterburn will be held 2:00 p.m., at Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Charles Branham officiating.  Serving as honorary pallbearers are Wayne Tripp, Ronnie Brassfield, Joe Schmidgall and Harry Todd.

 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 4110 S. 100th East Ave, Tulsa, OK 74146-3629.
