Daisy Juanita Hale

1925 - 2013

— Daisy Juanita Hale, 88 year old lifetime Checotah resident, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Muskogee. 

She was born Saturday, January 31, 1925 to Ralph and Alta (Doss) Johnson in Checotah. Juanita grew up and went to school in Checotah and graduated from the 8th grade. She worked on the family farm then moved to Oklahoma City where she worked at McDonnell-Douglas as rosie riveter during WWII. Juanita fell in love and married her sweetheart Garland Hale on Friday, May 4, 1945 in Checotah. She became a homemaker and later went to work at Cedar Manor Nursing Home as a Nurse’s Aid for 17 years. Juanita later retired, she loved her church, cooking and enjoyed going to Gospel singing. She attended Shady Grove Church and was a member of Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; husband Garland Hale; daughter Freda Shorney; infant brother, Joe Johnson and 3 brothers Gene Johnson, Pete Johnson, Billy Johnson; and sister, Sybil Lassiter. She is lovingly survived by her children Tom Hale and wife Betty of Yukon; Kay Farrice and husband Prentis of Bartlesville; Connie Smith and husband Jerry of Moore; Kathy Flynn and husband Willie of Checotah; and son-in-law Blair Shorney of Oklahoma City. Juanita is also survived by ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and her sister Peggy Morris of Texas, other extended family and a host of lifelong friends.

Viewing for Juanita will be 12-7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Hale officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Justin Farrice, Lance Farrice, Mike Lowden, Steven Johnson, Matt Wiedel and Matt Jennings will serve as Casket Bearers.
