Robert F. Wood, 82, passed from this life and was ushered into the presence of the Lord on March 17, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was born to Frank H. Wood and Ethel O. (Canady) Wood on February 17, 1932, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He attended Pawnee Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1950. He then entered military service during the Korean Conflict after which he attended Central State College, now Central State University, where he received a BS degree in general business.
Robert was a member of the Pawnee Tribe of Oklahoma and was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of the Interior, retiring in 1988 as Administrative officer in the Muskogee Area Office.
His family and friends recall what a wonderful artist and musician Robert was. He enjoyed drawing, painting, and playing the piano and organ. Robert also studied the French language. He greeted the family pet each morning with, “Bon jour, Kirby!”
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janell O'Neal Wood, his parents and one brother, Charles E. Wood. He is survived by his son, Russell B. Wood of McKinney, Texas, a daughter, Sydney K. Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, Mariah K. Wood and Robert T. Wood both of McKinney, Texas; nieces, Charaine Wood of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Diane Ferrari of Chicago, Illinois; a nephew, Mark Ferrari of Austin, Texas; and a very special friend, Kathleen Smith of Muskogee.
Robert was a member of Grandview Tabernacle, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Wingo officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Russell B. Wood, Robert T. Wood, Ralph Milam, and M.D. Gibson. Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee, with full military honors.
