Oweta Virginia Allen

1920 - 2013

Oweta Virginia Allen of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the age of 92.  She was born August 12, 1920 in Leslie, Arkansas to William McIver and Rosa Edwards McIver. She grew up in Morris, Oklahoma where she attended school and graduated in 1938. Oweta married Clark Allen March 7, 1942 in Muskogee where they made their home and raised their children. She continued her education attending LPN School graduating in 1962. She worked for many years at Muskogee Regional Medical Center from which she retired. Her wish of owning an antique shop came true after retirement as she opened “Granny & Pappy’s Antique Shop”. Oweta enjoyed fishing, camping, going to flea markets and garage sales. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years.

Oweta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Clark Allen; her daughter, Myrna Sanders; her granddaughter, Destrie Winters; her grandson, Hank Glass; her brothers, Randal McIver, Dean McIver, and John McIver; her sisters, Charlotte Shelton and Juanita Devero.

She is survived by her daughter, Debby Frazier and husband, Jerry; her grandchildren, Dustin Frazier and wife, Amy; Vanessa Glass, Kristina Hight, Shelby Winters, Casey Winters, Jenna Winters, Branson Glass, Hunter Glass, Jimmy Hight, Tyler Hight, Taylor Frazier, Emily Frazier, all of Muskogee; her son-in-law, Tommy Sanders; her sister, Dixie Wilhite of Morris, OK;  her brother-in-law, Tom Shelton and wife, Micki Jo;  special nephew, Dennis Wilhite and wife, Angela who always brought her candy; and many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Oweta will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating.

Services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1830 N. York, Muskogee, OK, 74403. Condolences may be made to the family at
