Lurlene Rachael Stockton Gattenby

1922-2014

Lurlene Rachael Stockton Gattenby, age 91, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 12:05 a.m. in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born July 1, 1922 to Francis Marshall and Ethel Stockton of Ash Creek, OK.  She graduated with the class of 1940 from Crowder High School. Lurlene married E. D. (Dee) Gattenby on January 8, 1943.  They celebrated their 71st anniversary this year.

Lurlene had worked as church secretary at Eastern Heights Baptist Church for over 39 years when she retired in 1997.  She then became a real estate broker and established Gattenby Real Estate where she enjoyed helping people find the home they needed. Her love and concern for people was with her to the end. She loved baking and sharing whenever there was a need. Her children, grand and great grandchildren were the loves of her heart. She passed on her talent and love for singing - a legacy that continues.

Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, F.M. and Ethel Stockton; her brothers, Eugene Stockton, Charley Smith, C.W. Stockton; her sisters, Anna Ozene Hetrick, Geneva Patterson, and Mary Ruth Stockton; and her son, Kelly D. Gattenby.

Lurlene is survived by her husband, Dee, of the home; her brother, F.M. (Sonny) Stockton, Jr. of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Susan Hill and husband, Lynn of Broken Arrow, OK;  her daughter-in-law, Pon Gattenby of Muskogee; her grandchildren, Shaun and Hannah Hill of Bentonville, AR, Eric and Kristin Hill, Christy and Nathan Nockels, all of Atlanta, GA, Enoch Gattenby, James and Krisinda Gattenby, Toon Thongrarai, all of Muskogee, Aoy and Thai Lee of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Coleman, Grayson, and Miles Hill, Adeline Julia and Lily Claire Hill, Noah Elliana Nockels, Annie Rose Nockels, Michael Rodriguez, Keith Shields, Christopher Shields, Amy Thongrarai-Marble, Sonny Thongrarai, Jack Thongrarai, Keli Sadler, Kimberly Sadler; two great great grandchildren, Mikel Kelly Marble and August Nicole Dickerson.

Funeral services celebrating Lurlene's life will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014 at Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Muskogee. Interment will be at Ash Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 314 S Buffalo Mountain, McAlester, OK. Pallbearers will be Shaun Hill, Eric Hill, Enoch Gattenby, James Gattenby, Toon Thongrarai, and Sonny Thongrarai.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Thongrarai, Coleman Hill, and Grayson Hill.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online @www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
