Nathaniel “Nat” Clymer

1931-2014

Nathaniel “Nat” Clymer, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered heaven's gates on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the age of 82.  He was born November 6, 1931 in Muskogee to Frank Clymer and Ruth Kaiser Clymer.  Nat grew up in the Elm Grove community where he attended Elm Grove School.  He proudly honored his country serving during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force from which he later received an Honorable Discharge.   At the age of 20 and still on active duty, Nat returned home to Elm Grove to ask his sweetheart, Lois Lavern Webb, to marry him.  They were married on September 6, 1952 in Muskogee.  They celebrated over 61 years together.  

He worked as an iron worker for the Iron Workers Union #584 from which he retired in 1990 after more than 30 years of service.

Nat enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  His family remembers what a strong memory he had, always remembering the people he met.  He never met a stranger usually making conversation about the Lord.  Nat was also known for playing the harmonica, a talent he enjoyed.

Nat was loved by many and will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Climer; his stepfather, Jess Smith; his brothers, Tom Climer, Boyd Climer, and Jess Henry Smith; his sister, Myrtle Peyton; his daughter, Dayna Lavon Clymer; his son, Jimmy Ray Clymer; and daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Clymer.  

Nat is survived by his wife, Lois Clymer of the home; sons, Frank Clymer and wife, Diane of Muskogee, Leon Clymer and wife, RaNaile of Broken Arrow; daughter-in-law, Sabra Clymer of Buford, GA, brother, Charlie Climer of Big Cabin, OK; sisters, Glennice Luginbille of Wichita, KS, Pauline Glenn of Muskogee; 13 grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren; numerous other family members and many friends.

The family will receive friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Nat's life will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Muskogee First Assembly of God Church with Kevin Jones and Phillip Haas officiating.  Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mike Dixon, Nathan Clymer, Wesley McMahon, Mike Morse, Johnny Lewis, Jerry Christian, Eric Dotson, Paul Dotson, Jerry Jaynes, and Kris Hammonds.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Harris, Cecil Winkle, Dennis Rickner, Bob Scott, Darrell Gilbert, Tobe Scott, Art Carter, Joe Tiner, Joe Corley, Jimmy Jones, Russ Scott, Steve Medlin, Randy Scott, Bill Kaiser, and Nubbin Scott.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be made to the family online @www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
