1941 - 2012

— Edith Deyonne Bass, age 71, from Muskogee passed away December 28, 2012. Edith was born August 7, 1941 to Tom and Florence Climer in Muldrow, OK. Edith was raised in Sallisaw before moving to Muskogee in 1954.

On December 14,1960 Edith married her soul mate, Melvin Bass. Edith worked for Dr. Jack Reynolds for 27 years. She was the Secretary for the Miniature Rodeo Association. Edith was also a member of the American Business Women Association, Muskogee Democratic Women Association, and Advisor Committee for Nursing at Bacone College. Edith loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, rodeoing, watching OU football and clogging. Spending time with her family was what Edith enjoyed most of all.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Florence Climer; 1 son Buddy Bass; 1 brother Charlie Climer; and 1 grandson Austyn Thomas White. Edith leaves behind to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 52 years, Melvin Bass of the home; 1 son Wayne Bass and wife Beth of Muskogee; 1 daughter Shelly Brandt and husband Jason of Claremore; 1 brother Harold Climer and wife Edie of Sallisaw; 1 sister Yvonne Brewster of Norman; 1 sister in law Nadine Wood of Muskogee; 4 grandchildren Susan McIntee, Hillary Dagg, Mark Austin Brandt, Raegan Posey; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Shipmans Muskogee Funeral Service from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, 1325 N. York, Muskogee, OK. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1501 North 43rd Street E, Muskogee,OK, with interment following at Greenhill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home.
