Jean Ann Siner

1949 - 2013


— Jean Ann Siner, 63, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Tulsa after a lengthy illness.  

She was born October 3, 1949 in Ada, Oklahoma to Clyde Simmons and Hazel Dearman Simmons. Jean Ann grew up in Ada and attended school in Ada and Del City until 9th grade when her family moved to Tulsa. She graduated from Nathan Hale High School. She furthered her education by attending NSU in Tahlequah. Jean Ann received her master’s degree in education from NSU in 1973.

Jean Ann retired from Fort Gibson Public Schools where she taught for 30 years. She started as a 3rd grade teacher, and moved to the middle school in 1996 where she taught language arts until her retirement.

On August 17, 2011, Jean Ann married her soul mate and best friend, Dennis Siner, in Eureka Springs, AR.

Jean Ann’s hobbies included cooking, spending time with her grandkids, going to car races, spending time at the beauty shop, and traveling. One of her most favorite things to do was taking Popi, (Dennis’s father) for evening car rides.  

Jean Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John; and her first born daughter, Julie Marie Marrs.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of the home; her daughter, Cindy Jones of Ft. Gibson; her son, David Marrs and wife Destiny of Moore, OK.; Dennis’s daughters, Carlie Siner Wellington and husband Patrick of Edmond, Sara Siner Darling and husband Mike of Paducah, KY.; seven grandchildren, Chance, Kaden, Grace, Karmen, Maddox, Cohen, and Natalie; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at Oktaha Cemetery with Sara Siner Darling and Mike Darling officiating.
