Patricia Ruth Harrison

1943 - 2013

Life began on October 22, 1943 for Patricia Ruth Grant in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The daughter of J. Milton and Geneva J. Grant, Patricia began her primary years in Atoka, Oklahoma, but spent her formative years in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where she attended Dunbar Elementary School and graduated from Ardmore Douglas High School. She furthered her education at Langston University, pursuing a degree in Art and Education.

After college, Patricia returned to Ardmore, before moving to Denver, Colorado and eventually to Tulsa, where she met and married Luther Ray Harrison. They established a home in Muskogee and their union produced 2 children.

A civic minded person, Patricia was involved in her children's schools PTA and Girl Scouts, and was a member of Toastmasters Club, Herman E. Duncan Court #26 Masonic Lodge, NAACP and AARP. Her greatest love, however, was being a mother and homemaker.

Patricia was a member of First Baptist Church while in Ardmore, but united with the Ward Chapel AME Church until she returned to Ardmore to care for her mother. A talented, artistic lady, Patricia was an amazing cook, dressed with "flair", enjoyed showing off her hats, shoes, purses and anything else from her "shopping ministry!"

Patricia was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father and a brother, Gerri Grant.

She leaves in God's care; her mother, Geneva Grant, Ardmore, Oklahoma; her son, Brandon Ray Harrison [Jenny], Jacksonville, Arkansas; her daughter, Karie Brittany Harrison, Rogers, Arkansas; her ex-husband, Luther Ray Harrison, Muskogee; her grandchildren, Dallas, Kamryn and Isaiah; special cousins, Barbara Cannady [Eugene] and Wilma Sue Clayton; along with other relatives and friends.

Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Ward Chapel AME Church. Reverend Charlotte McBride is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Winfred T. Brown will bring Words of Comfort. The Christian Committal will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery.

You may visit Mrs. Harrison, as she slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM. Friends may convey condolences and sign the online register at www.biglowfunerals.com.
