Seaborn Lee Reich

1918 – 2013

— Seaborn Lee Reich, 94, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home in Muskogee.  

He was born November 3, 1918 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the son of James S. (Jim) and Willie (Hanes) Reich.  He attended Wagoner High School, and on January 19, 1941, he married Mary Lee Geurin.  At that time he was working for the MKT (Katy) Railroad as Tower Operator and Telegrapher.

He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, using his knowledge of telegraphy to intercept foreign code. Upon discharge, he returned to his job on the Katy Railroad in Checotah.  He also worked as Depot Agent in several locations. The last 10 years of his career was as Traveling Auditor for the Katy Railroad.  He retired in 1983 with 44 years of service.

He was a member of NARVRE (National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, Inc.).  He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Seaborn was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee of the home; daughter, Sheryl Lee Reich Arnold of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; grandson, Tyler J. Arnold of Calgary; his only sibling, Janet Reich Grandstaff; cousins, Rita H. Burnett of Muskogee, William H. Hanes of Lawton, and Terry Reich of Aurora, Colorado.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
