Michael Ray Swan

1956 - 2013

— Michael Swan, age 56, died on Monday January 28, 2013 at his home in Muskogee, Oklahoma after suffering from a lengthy illness.  He was born to Gerald and Doris Mae (Fox) Swan on July 17th, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Michael received his early education in Oklahoma City. After graduating high school, Michael entered the field of Law Enforcement. He worked as a patrol officer in Norman, Oklahoma and later as a 911 dispatch officer. Michael worked for a number of years as a tour manager for many notable groups out of Nashville, Tennessee. For a time, Michael specialized in the custom horse transport business which took him to many unique places throughout the country. Michael was also Gospel Music songwriter and musician and had several songs published. Michael was a friendly and unique individual. He loved his friends and family but his most passionate love was for his deeply rooted Native American Heritage.

Michael is survived by one son; Michael Ray Swan, Jr. and wife Courtney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Two brothers; Dean Swan of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Jack Swan of Midwest City, Oklahoma. One sister; Carol Gaylene Osmond of Okay, Oklahoma. One grandson; Michael Swan, III of Oklahoma City, four granddaughters; Lyric Swan, Patiance Swan, Shai Swan and Jada Swan, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends who will miss him.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday, February 4th, 2013 at the Ward Chapel Church, 915 Denison Street in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Shipman’s Muskogee, Cremation & Funeral Service, 1325 N. York Street Muskogee, Oklahoma.
