Stanley A. Clark

1937 - 2013

Stanley A. Clark of Muskogee, Oklahoma, went to meet his Maker on Sunday, July 14, after a short battle with leukemia. Stan was born in Muskogee October 29, 1937 and moved to Albuquerque with his family after third grade. The Clark family lived overseas for a time, and Stan attended the University of the Philippines from 1954 to 1956. He then returned to Oklahoma, graduating from Oklahoma University in January 1959 with a degree in accounting. He was an Army reservist, entering active duty in Fall 1959. In April 1960, he was sent to San Antonio, Texas, where he was employed as a high-value distribution clerk for the U.S. Air Force.

In September 1960, Stan was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and assigned to the San Antonio office. Throughout his career with the FDIC, Stan enjoyed assignments all over the United States.

He was the beloved husband of Kathryn R. Stuart whom he married in December, 1963. Their union was blessed with three children who survive him: Kimberley Kathryn Thornton of Lake Forest, California; Mary Suzanne Clark of Pleasant Hill, California; and Bradford Stanley Clark of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by two nephews, Randall Clark Montgomery and his wife and two daughters, and Jeremiah Kost.

Stan was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as a van driver and church treasurer. He also served for many years on the board of the Gospel Rescue Mission.

Stan enjoyed many outdoor activities. He completed the Los Angeles Marathon in 1993 at the age of 55 and enjoyed running as long as he was able. Stan was an avid golfer and was finally able to shoot a 70 shortly before he became ill.

Burial will be in Alexander, AR on July 18. A Memorial Service will be held July 20 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, Muskogee, OK.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home at 12700 E. 76th St. N, Owasso, OK 74055.
