Robert “Bud” Bebout


— Robert “Bud” Bebout age 84 of Porter was born on October 7, 1928 in Purcell, Ok, the second of eight children born to Thomas Fontaine Bebout Sr. and Lois Ethel (Mooney). He passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital in Muskogee. He was raised primarily in the Fairview Community and attended school there through the eighth grade.

Bud proudly served in the 45th Artillery Division during the Korean conflict. He married the love of his life, Ruby Mae (Burk) Bebout on February 7, 1964. They raised two daughters, Teresa and Leeson. After ten years of being foster parents to many children, they enlarged their family by two more adopted children, Shane and Missy Geer and four grandchildren Katie, Jayme, Jacob and Steven Greer.

Bud worked telephone construction. He was a lineman for the railroad and eventually retired from Lake Region Electric. Bud loved passing his time by growing a beautiful garden, playing dominoes and spending time with family and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his two daughters, Teresa and Leeson, his parents Thomas and Lois Bebout of Purcell, two brothers; Thomas Bebout Jr. and Jimmy Bebout, two sisters; Letha Faye “Sis” Mayo and Sue Wilhite. Bud leaves behind a loving wife of forty nine years, Ruby Bebout of the home, children Shane and Missy Greer of Wagoner, four grandchildren Katie, Jayme, Jacob and Steven Greer of Wagoner, two sisters; Mary Lou Howell of Purcell, Leta Mae “Tiny” Wilson and husband Joe of Purcell, one brother W.C. “Dub” Bebout and wife Karlyn of Purcell and a host of other friends and family.  

Funeral services for Bud will be held at 2:00P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with Pastor Jim Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday July 23, 2013 at 11:00A.M. to 7:00P.M. with the family receiving guests from 5:00P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory, Wagoner, Ok.
