George Charles Garrison

1936 - 2013

— George Charles Garrison, 76, a life-long resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in Muskogee.

 He was born December 9, 1936 in Muskogee to Earl Garrison and Alta Tidwell Garrison.  George was a very friendly, good Christian man and a member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church.  He worked in the cattle business for years and enjoyed watching westerns on TV and making bull whips.  George proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alta Garrison. George is survived by his sister, Laura Young and husband Loyd of Fort Gibson; his brothers, Senator Earl Garrison and wife Faye, Larry Garrison and wife Barbara, all of Muskogee, and John Garrison and wife Sue of El Dorado, AR.

The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to George’s caregivers, Tony and Mary.

Funeral services honoring the life of George will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Shelton and Lyle Burris officiating.  Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.  Pallbearers will be Dr. Chad Garrison, Jeff Garrison, Jarod Garrison, Tim Moxley, David Howe, and Tony Drabenstott.

The family requests memorials be made to Oldham Memorial Baptist Church, 3605 Tahlequah St., Muskogee, OK., 74401 or to Gideons International, 5701 W. Okmulgee St., Muskogee, OK., 74401.  

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Condolences may be sent to the family at
