Arthur Jay Keith

1945-2013

— Arthur Jay Keith 67 of Muskogee, passed away in OKC Wednesday, July 10, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

Art was born July 24, 1945, the son of Claude Jay and Charlotte James (Hogan) Keith. He began driving a truck in his teens and has been a steel hauler for over twenty years. He married Loretta Davis on January 9, 1965 and the couple made Muskogee their home.

Art loved being on his property with his horses and farm animals. He liked to weld, do woodwork and maintain the farm. His CB handle was “Speedy”. Art was a devoted husband, amazing dad and outgoing grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a large garden every summer and was a master cook, always grilling for his family on weekends and holidays, the fall and winter were his time to watch the only two football teams that mattered, the OU Sooners and the Green Bay Packers of whom Art was a devoted “Cheesehead”. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Oriental Lodge 430 AF &AM in Muskogee and a Shriner with Muskogee Bedouin Temple and Tulsa Scottish Rite. Art was a drummer in the Shriners Drum Corps where he never missed a beat.

Art was preceded in death by his father, a brother Phil and a grand-son, Kieth Cruse. He is survived by his wife Loretta of the home; a son Arthur Jay Keith Jr. of Muskogee; three daughters, Regina Lowrance, Muskogee, Marty Keith and husband Danny Sanders of Stillwater, and Tillie-Latricia Keith of Muskogee; mother, Charlotte Keith of Broken Arrow; son-in-law, Kevin Cruse of Ft. Gibson; grandchildren, Wade Nunley of Muskogee Robin Keith of Stillwater, Claudia-Dean Seaman and husband Joey of Heavener, Cassidy Cruse, Dalton Jay Cruse and Amber Lowrance all of Muskogee and Makenzie Cruse and Tyler Grandstaff of Ft. Our dad was the most kind, compassionate, giving, and hardworking person ever. He never ever met a stranger or had an unkind word about anyone. He was always the life of the party and continued this even through his long lengthy illness and stay in the hospital that spanned over fifteen months. During it all he continued to keep his family, friends, and staff at the hospital entertained, never missing a beat. Family was everything to him. His family adored him and everything he stood for. We love you so much Dad. You’re the Best.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Pastor Butch Osborne officiating.
