Harold B, Patterson

1920-2014

Harold B. Patterson, age 93, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Grace Living Center in Muskogee. He was born July 26, 1920 in Missouri to Frank Beatty Patterson and Pearl Clements Patterson.

Harold moved with his parents to Muskogee, Oklahoma at a young age and attended school in the Muskogee school system until graduation. He continued his education at Westminster College and the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from OU in 1946. He was a member of “The Greatest Generation” having served in Greece and Italy as a navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He worked for Commercial Credit (CCC) in Muskogee and Kansas City where he met Marjorie Taylor. Harold and Marjorie married on April 17, 1949 in Marceline, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, they returned to Muskogee where he was employed at Commercial Finance Corporation and First National Bank. He was in the banking business for forty plus years.

He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Muskogee for 81 years where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Trustee and as a financial advisor to the administrative staff. He helped with the organization of the Sustaining Trust of First Presbyterian. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the K Club, The Petroleum Club of Tulsa, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Muskogee Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, his parents and his brother Frank Clements Patterson.

He is survived by four cousins, Mary Betty, Donnie, Linda and Chris and extended family and many friends as well as his loyal and trusted friend, “Socks” his cat. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12th at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with Reverend Ann Brizendine officiating. Friends and neighbors are invited to join us to celebrate Harold’s life.

Friends may wish to remember Harold by making memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 500 West Broadway, Muskogee, OK 74401.
