1921 - 2014

Lillian Ilene Thompson, 92 year old Checotah resident, died peacefully Friday, July 11, 2014 in Warner, OK. She was born on Saturday, December 21, 1921 to Marvin and Eunice Harvel Barker in Sasakwa, OK. She met, fell in love and later married the love of her life, Cecil P. Thompson in Konawa on Saturday, September 21, 1946. After they married, she became a homemaker and began selling Avon. She retired from Avon after 25 years of service. She was a loyal, faithful member of First Baptist Church of Checotah where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She is lovingly survived by her sons, Michael Pat Thompson of Tulsa, Jerry Lee Thompson and his wife Carlye of Checotah; ten grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren, Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Charlene Baker of Seminole and a brother-in-law, Buddy Baker, numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends. Viewing will be 9AM to 7PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 with her family greeting friends from 5pm-7pm at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Lillian’s life will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Checotah with Reverend Wayne Brown, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Matt Vandiver, Dean Frazier, Terry Funberg, Mike Key, Mike Garrett and Rusty Rogers, are serving as Casket Bearers. Her special friends, Doretta Wilson, Nadine Voss, Doris Candy and Ruth Adams will honor her as Honorary Casket Bearers.
