Martha “Marse” Frisbie

1932 - 2013

— Martha “Marse” Frisbie, 80 year old Checotah resident, died peacefully Tuesday, March 12, 2013 surrounded by her loving family in Muskogee.  Martha was born Tuesday, March 29, 1932 in Oktaha to John and Gertrude Gail (Haggard) Williams.  She grew up in Checotah and attended Victor and Checotah Schools graduating from Checotah High School in 1950. On Wednesday, August 30, 1950 Martha met, fell in love and married her best friend Oscar Frisbie in Checotah, Oklahoma.  She became a homemaker and moved to Bixby where she went to work for Bixby Manor as a cook and a nurse aid. Martha later became the activities and food service manager before her retirement from Bixby Manor in 1995.  She moved to the Eufaula Lake area where she worked for her son Dennis as a bookkeeper.  Martha enjoyed many things in life including sewing, crocheting and loved her grandkids. She never left anyone out and was a very selfless and giving lady. Martha loved her Savior and was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in Bixby.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Oscar on Tuesday, October 29, 1996 and sister Margaret Garrett. Martha is lovingly survived by her children Dennis Lee Frisbie and his wife Jodean of Porum, Jacque Glenn and her husband Mike of Tulsa, Jonna Guthrie and her husband Olin of Bixby, Scot Frisbie of Tulsa and Ryan Lovejoy of Rosemont, Minnesota; grandchildren Keri Parent and her husband David, Dennis Frisbie, Bobby Frisbie and his wife Mindy, Melanie Impson and her friend Sammy, Steven Grodin, Gretchen Edwards, Michael Kuck and his wife Nicole, Lauren Kuck, John Glenn, Joe Glenn, Brian Guthrie and his wife Wendi, Nick Guthrie and his wife Laura, Tyler Frisbie, Nicole Frisbie, Rhett Lovejoy, Kyle Lovejoy and seventeen great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her special cousin Helen Deramus; brothers Robert Williams and his wife Georgia, John E. Williams and his wife Dorthy, Jimmy Williams and his wife Ruby, Clayton Williams and his wife Joyce; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a community full of lifelong friends.

Viewing will be Friday, March 15, 2013 from 9AM – 8PM at Garrett Family Funeral Home. Funeral services for Martha Frisbie will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Checotah with Reverend Dr. L.M. Woodson officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Pierce Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Steve Grodin, Michael Kuck, Nick Guthrie, Bryan Guthrie, Tyler Frisbie, Bobby Frisbie and Dennis Frisbie are serving as Casket Bearers. Gretchen Edwards, Lauren Kuck, Nicole Frisbie, Keri Parent and Melanie Impson are serving as Honorary Casket Bearers.
