Joan N. Moore

1933 - 2012

— Joan N. Moore, 79, joined her husband in heaven on October 3, 2012. Joan was born on September 23, 1933 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Robert Henry and Maggie Inez (Self) North.

Joan and her husband James were married for 50 years and members of First Baptist Church Checotah. Joan was not only known as a wonderful sister, daughter and friend, but also a caring mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Joan enriched the lives of everyone with whom she met. She was preceded in death by her parents and her 2 sisters, Bobbie and Delores. Joan is survived by her children; Rex and wife Sarah Moore of Woodbridge, VA, Robin and husband Buzz Matlock of Broken Arrow and Clay Moore of Checotah; 4 grandchildren, Doug and wife Courtney Matlock of Chickasaw, Ben and wife Cristi Matlock of Ada, Patrick Moore of Woodbridge, VA, Kristianne Moore of Woodbridge, VA and great grandchild Ellis Marie Matlock of Chickasaw. Joan is also survived by sisters Phyllis and husband Don Voigt of Council Hill and Patty and husband Jim Potts of Locus Grove.

Serving as pallbearers are Ralph Davidson, Jerry Qualls, Tom Neumeyer, Barry Howell, Bond Howell and Branson Howell.

Services will be held Tuesday October 9, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Checotah at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Steve Dennis officiating.
