Loretta Bennett


Loretta Bennett, 88, of Vian, Oklahoma passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  She was born April 7, 1925 in Bennington, Oklahoma, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Coburn and Martha Rada (Thacker) Coburn.  She married John Raymond Bennett on September 28, 1948 in Tranquility, California.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2006 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  She was a Medicine Aid at Sequoyah Manor Nursing Home, a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors are:  2 daughters and sons in law: Martha and Burl Pope of Muskogee, OK and Carolyn and Larry Couch of Blackgum, OK

1 son and daughter in law: Donald and Anna Ballard of Twin Oaks, OK

18 grandchildren, numerous great, great great, and great great great grandchildren, and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Bennett; 1 son, Robert Glenn Allen Bennett; 1 grandson, Damon D. Ballard; daughter in law, Carla Stites Bennett Wortman; her parents, Benjamin and Martha Coburn; twin sister, Juanita Coburn and 1 brother, Arthur Coburn

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10 am at Blackgum Harvestime Church in Vian, Oklahoma.  Burial will be at Buffington Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Viewing will be Wednesday 10 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.  The family will greet from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.

Active Pallbearers are Brice Pope, Brian Harris, Lee Bennett, John Robert Bennett, Heath Richey, Mike Wortman, Clint Brown and Jesse Osburn.
