Rose Marie “Granny” Belcher, 81, of Muskogee, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Eastar Health Systems. She was born June 26, 1932 to
Roland and Rose (Fueg) Wait in Muskogee where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Central High School in 1950.
After high school, Rose was employed at the welfare office before going to work at the BIA. Then she began her career as ward secretary at the VA
Medical Center which spanned more than 30 years. After retirement, Rose enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At the age of 12, she was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church. She also attended Ridgecrest Methodist Church. She loved taking care of her grandkids, playing bingo and had a group of friends that met monthly at Furr’s Cafeteria. Rose always remained close to her special friend, Joyce Reeder.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack Wait and Herb Wait. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Ray Irvin and Janice and Donnie Cluck; son and daughter-in-law, George and Sue Belcher; grandchildren, Kristi and husband Chuck, Kimberly, Erika, Bradley and twins Shawn and Ashley; great-grandkids, Kayla, Paige, Leighton and Kynlee; brothers, Wesley Wait and George Wait; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with Rev. Kelly Payne officiating.
