Walter Samuel Rogers

1933-2013

Walter Samuel Rogers was born September 25, 1933 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to Ray and Ruby (Shockley) Rogers.  He passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years.

He married Myrtle Burns July 31, 1970 in Wewoka, Oklahoma.  He served with the United States Navy and was a welder.  He enjoyed horses, roping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Susie Rains and Elaina Rogers; his grandson, Jessie Rains; his sisters, Peggy, Ona Ray and Thelma Jean and his brother, Richard.

Walter is survived by his wife, Myrtle of the home in Wagoner; three children, Larry Rogers and wife Susan of Okay, Oklahoma, Ginger Swafford and husband Edward of Porum, Oklahoma and Tommy Rains of Muskogee, Oklahoma;; many grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Kilgore and husband Bo of Mississippi and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 8, 2013, in the Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wesley Graver officiating.  Interment will follow in Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, Oklahoma under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home.
