Billy Ray Wright

1943 - 2014

Billy Ray Wright, 70, of Muskogee passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Muskogee after a battle with cancer.

Billy was born in Muskogee, OK, on December 12, 1943 the son of Wilbur and Lorene (Jones) Wright. From 1961 to 1964 he served his country in the U. S. Navy. Billy had many talents including being a songwriter and musician, an inventor with one patent, a carpenter, and entrepreneur. He loved fishing because his patent was a fishing invention.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Angela; son, Adam; mother, Lorene Wright; sister, Clara Welch and husband, Loren; brothers, Donald and Jimmy Wright of Muskogee; two aunts, Barbara Cumerford and Dolly Bryan of California; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Wright; brothers, Wilbur Wright Jr, Johnny Wright, and Ross Wright.

Services for Billy will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at New Life Center in Muskogee with Pastor Phillip Morris officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
