Paul Lawrence Barnett Sr.


Paul Lawrence Barnett Sr., 82, who was born in Muskogee, OK on November 14, 1930 to Fred Lee and Daisy Bell (Brown) Barnett Sr., passed away September 6, 2013 in Des Moines, IA.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., both at Ernst Funeral Home, Waukee.  Interment to follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Paul attended Manual Training High School in Muskogee.  After high school he served in the U.S. Army. He made his home in Kansas City, KS and later moved to Des Moines, IA in 2002. Paul was a member of Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing dominos and fishing with his family.

Paul is survived by children Paul Barnett Jr. of Waukee, IA and Gayle Barnett, Cheryl Barnett and Marty Barnett all of Muskogee, OK; step-children Kim (Chris) Barnett-Davison of Muskogee, OK, Eyvette Brown of Atlanta, GA, Shawn (Lashelle) White of Groove, OK and Marilyn White of McKinney, TX; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Frances Collins and brother Fred L. Barnett Jr.
