Joseph Westley Walker

1936 - 2013

Funeral services for Joseph Westley Walker, 77, of Muskogee, OK, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Glen Little officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.

Joseph was born on June 27, 1936 in Muskogee, OK, the son of John and Ida (Gallagher) Walker and died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Muskogee.

Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. On January 31, 1959 he married Ruby Ann Mickels in Muskogee. In the late 60’s and early 70’s, Joe spent a lot of time building race cars and ran the wrecker for quite a few years at Thunderbird Speedway. He worked for Tom Seller’s body shop for 20+ years before owning his own business, Joe’s Family Fun Center; later working for Sears and retiring from there. Joe was a football fan and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and OU football. He was a faithful member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church, and once active member of the Elk’s Lodge in Muskogee. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed square dancing with Ann and being on a bowling league together.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, of the home; two children, daughter, Christina Ann Norton and husband, David; son, Jeffery Lynn Walker and wife, Patti, all of Muskogee; four grandchildren, Jeremy Scott Walker and wife, Clarissa of Bixby, Brandon Joseph Walker, James Quinton Norton, and Courtney Nicole Walker all of Muskogee; three great-grandchildren, Effie Ann Walker, Easton Joe Walker, and Ewing Scott Walker all of Bixby; two sisters, Ida Lashley and Lois Ann Green. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Pauline, Viona, Shirley Leah, Johnna Lou, Jacqualine, and Sylvia.

In memory of Joseph, the family prefers memorials to Oldham Memorial Baptist Church.
