Edward Van “Bud” Cory

1925 – 2013

Bud Cory died in Muskogee, OK on Monday, December 9, 2013, he was 88.

Funeral services will be at First Presbyterian Church in Muskogee at 2:00PM, Friday, December 13. Cremation has taken place.

Bud was born to Edward H. and Edith (Vandergrift) Cory in Parsons, KS, April 17,1925. He graduated Muskogee Central High School in Muskogee, OK, with the class of 1943 and college at Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State) with a degree in chemical engineering.  At OSU he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. In WW II Bud served as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy aboard a destroyer Escort, Jenks, from 1943 -1945, in the Atlantic Ocean.

He married Mona Carol Tucker (who preceded him) in Oklahoma City and they made their home in Durango, Co with their daughter Ruth. He worked with his father at, and later owned, Durango Ice & Produce Company, which expanded as a distributor for Anheuser Busch. In November, 2006 he married Carolyn Curl, his high school sweetheart and they made their home in Muskogee.

Bud enjoyed the outdoors, jeeping, hunting and fishing. He spent summers at his cabin at Electra Lake north of Durango where he entertained friends and family. He lived a full life and made others feel part of his world. He was generous to a fault and never hesitated to help a friend in need. To his friends and family he will remain one of a kind and sorely missed. It is hard to imagine a world  without Bud in it.

He was preceded by his parents and wife Mona Carol. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Curl Bresser, of Muskogee and daughter, Ruth Cory of Tarragano, Spain as well as sisters, Mary Jean Beck of Tulsa and Carol Stephens of New Braunfels, TX; five nephews, a niece and several great-nephews and nieces; 2 step daughters, 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandson.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home in Muskogee.
