Myrtle M. Thomason

1927 - 2013

Myrtle M. Thomason, age 86 of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was born to Edgar and Erma (Parker) Lester on May 5th, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Myrtle received her early education in Muskogee and after graduation in 1945 she attended college for a period of time. On February 4th, 1950, Myrtle married A.W. Thomason in Muskogee and they shared 63 wonderful years together.

Myrtle was a loving and dedicated pastors’ wife. She and husband A.W. founded the Homer Assembly of God in Homer, AK, the First Assembly of God in Wagoner, OK and the Westside Assembly of God in Marion, IN. She was a great teacher of the Bible and a talented writer and drama director of many church plays throughout her ministry. Myrtle loved having the opportunity to tour the Holy Land which included Jordan and Egypt. She was a great soul winner for Christ and loved to paint and cross stitch in her spare time. Most of all Myrtle loved the Lord, her husband, her children, grandchildren and her great grandchild. Simply put, her life’s goal was for everyone she met to make her a promise that she would see them on the other side in Paradise.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Erma Lester. Three children, Bruce Wayne and twins, Marcus Wayne and Catherine. One brother, Charles Lester and two sisters, Faydean Birdsell and Nadine Hensley.

Her survivors include her husband A.W. Thomason of the home in Muskogee. One son, DeWayne (Debbie) Thomason of Fort Gibson. One daughter, Deborah (Brian) Beller of Muskogee. Two brothers, Arthur (Evie) Lester of Muskogee, Wilbur (Evelyn) Lester of Braggs and Brother-In-Law, John Birdsell of Bryan, TX. Eight grandchildren; Joseph (Victoria) Owaidat and Cheria (Jacob) Lockmiller, Nicholas, Victoria, Isabella and Mattilda Thomason, Lacey and Berianna Schroeder. One Great Granddaughter, Angelica Owaidat.

Visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 1301 E. Okmulgee in Muskogee on Tuesday, December 10th from 12:00 Noon to 7 PM. Family will greet friends and guests from 5 PM to 7 PM Tuesday Evening.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 at the Muskogee First Assembly of God Church, 3100 Gulick St. in Muskogee. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service, 1325 N. York St. Muskogee, OK.
