Middie Francis Williams has begun her journey to be reunited with her late husband J.B. on December 5, 2013 in Muskogee. Middie passed away from complications due to a recent injury. She was born on June 20, 1922 in Greenwood, Arkansas to John Wesley Ervin Smith and Lela (Nichols) Smith. Middie was married to her husband of nearly seventy years, J.B. Madison on April 27, 1940. Middie and J.B. spent the years following WWII in Michigan. Middie was one of many women that contributed to the war effort by riveting parts of aircraft manufactured in Detroit, Michigan. She had many jobs while in Michigan including being an information operator for the telephone company, a resident manager of several apartment complexes as well as being a General Manager for the entire management company. After retiring in the early eighties, Middie and J.B. moved back to Arkansas for a short period of time and then relocated to the Muskogee area.
During their time in Muskogee, they raised Quarter Horses and at one time had approximately 40 horses to tend. They enjoyed wagon trail riding as well. After age became a factor, they gave up the horses and moved into town.
Middie was a very devoted member of Lawrence Street Baptist Church. She was also a many years member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hazel Park, MI Chapter 486. Middie enjoyed sewing and embroidery and was always busy with either cooking or sewing.
