Maurice Jewel Willis

1951 – 2013

Maurice Jewel Willis, was born September 15, 1951 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to David and Inez Willis. He departed this life September 19, 2013 at the young age of 62.  He enjoyed spending most of his time with his girls. He had a kind heart and loved life to the fullest everyday. He played the drums for several years, and then began driving semi trucks, which he has done for the past 37 years.

He is survived by his wife & soul mate, Dora Mae Willis, two daughters, Stacie Ford & husband Paul of Fort Gibson, Brandy Hughey & husband Cody of Muskogee; two granddaughters, the loves of his life, Haley Nicole Ford & Ardyn Mae Hughey; one brother, R.A. Willis of Tulsa; four sisters, Charlene Ellis and husband Harlan of Muskogee, Davetta McIntosh & husband Kenny of Welling, Lynn Mason of Liberty, Texas, and  Jerry Ross &  husband Virgil of Webbers Falls; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many, many friends.

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, David & Inez Willis; brother, David Ira Willis; and sister, Birdie Carmen.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 23rd, at Southeast Baptist Church, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Harlan Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be, Ira Willis, Chris Ross, Jeff Ross, Todd Ross, Scotty Higgenbothom, and Danny Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Guinn, Norman Blake, Harlan Ellis, and Rick Willis.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at
