H. Glen Teel

1927 - 2013

Horace Glen Teel was born on Jan. 18, 1927 to Wallace Balem and Edith Perkins Teel in Broken Arrow OK. He attended schools in Broken Arrow and lived all his life in the Broken Arrow and Wagoner area.

Glen passed away at his home in Wagoner, OK on the evening of October 23, 2013. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Balem Teel & Edith Perkins Teel, sister Maxine Teel, brother Wallace Murel Teel and his son Larry Glen Teel.

Glen is survived by wife Jane, of 47 years, married on May 26th, 1966. Six children; William (Bill) Teel of Bartlesville, OK; Carol Sharon (Dennis) Hendrix of Tulsa, OK; Gary (Denise) Wilcox of Ft. Gibson, OK; David Wilcox of Ft. Gibson, OK; Glen Earl (Lisa) Teel of The Woodlands, TX; Ellen (Chris) Wilfong of Washington, OK. 14 Grandchildren, Madison, Malia, Melody, Erin, Meagan, Lauren, Nick, Taylor, Brett (Christi), Brian, Christine, Jennifer, Cathy, Jacqueline and 3 Great Grandchildren, Corbyn, Camden, & Braden. Also, his two faithful canine companions Mae & Buddy, that never left his side.

Glen loved his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He loved to work in his garden and yard and won the “Lawn of the Week” on several occasions. One of his favorite things to do was grill steaks on his hasty bake, and watch football. He also loved playing dominoes, and you always wanted him to be your partner.

Glen coached a Broken Arrow 15 & under baseball team for many years. He owned the Skelley Gas Station on Main street in BA, served as a BA police officer, and then worked for Beckham Oil Co. in BA before moving to Wagoner. Glen served on the Wagoner School board, and was active with the Wagoner Bulldog Booster Club for many years. Glen was one of the original creators of “Buster the Bulldog” mascot back in 1984. He bought the Wagoner Motor Company back in 1966. He started his family owned business, Teel Tool Company in 1981 and was still actively working up until the day of his passing. Glen always looked forward to meeting his classmates every 3rd Thursday of the month for breakfast at Duffy’s in Broken Arrow.

Visitation and Viewing will be on Sunday, October 27th, 2013 from 1PM to 5PM.

H. Glen Teel’s life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday October 28th, 2013 at Shipman Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.  Pastor Dwayne Thompson and Glen’s grandson, Brett Hendrix will be officiating the service. Immediately following the services, burial will be held at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow.

The family would like to thank everyone for the letters, flowers, food, cards, visits, phone calls, and prayers.
