John Weldon Lamb

1932 - 2013

— John Weldon Lamb was born January 7, 1932 in Muskogee, OK, to Hazel Renfro and Oliver Lamb and died Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Tulsa. He is survived by one sister, Lucille Baker and husband Willis “Bud” of Pittsburg, MO; one brother, Ralph Lamb of Sierra Vista, AZ; wife, Delores of Tulsa where he resided; five children, Deborah Andrews of Muskogee, OK, Charles Lamb and wife, Carol, of Bonne Terre, MO, Jack Lamb of Okay, OK, Donnie Lamb and wife, Rene’, of Muskogee, and Clifford Lamb of Tulsa; eight grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John was the manager of Muskogee Restaurant Supply of 23 years. He was devoted to his work and his employer and best friend, Jim Barker and wife, Kay. After the business closed, John went to work for the Oklahoma State Health Department for 17 years in several capacities excelling in all of them. He was a dedicated, hard worker and always gave more than 110%. He loved a challenge. Over the years he was in archery and bowling, winning trophies in both, later playing golf and getting two hole in ones. He tried his hand at photography and was excellent at it.

During his tenure with the state job, he and Delores traveled over the entire state of Oklahoma. They both loved it and took lots of pictures. On one occasion they stopped to eat lunch at a roadside park. John bet Delores $60 that she couldn’t hit the trash can with her sandwich wrapper. Well, she did. He paid up and she never let him forget it. John and Delores loved to fish and went often until his illness. They enjoyed a pontoon boat and travel trailer. John was a dedicated family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Services for John will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Hancock officiating. Pallbearers will be Lynn Scott, Jack Roach, Mark Bullard, Brad Barker, Kenny Greer, and Robert Harkreader. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
