Doris Virginia Shope

1928 - 2013

Doris Virginia Shope, 85, of Gore, OK, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was born January 15, 1928 in Branch, AR to the late Matt and Reba “Mamma 2” Samuels. She was a retired Supervisor for Food Management Consultant.  She was a 26 year member of Gore United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Claremore, OK Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Red Hats of Gore.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, July 8, 2013, at Gore United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Clark and Rev. Bill Buttram officiating.  Graveside service will be 2:30 PM Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 68 ?  years William “Bill” Shope, one daughter Delora Moore of Gore, OK, two sons Jerry Shope and wife Shirlene of Tulsa, OK, Matt Shope & wife Jan of Everett, WA, seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg Towe, Dustin Towe, Larry Shope, Shawn Porter, Will Shope and Robert Campbell.

The family will visit with friends Monday prior to the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the church.
