Rick Gaches

1959 - 2012

Rick Gaches was born November 17th, 1959 in Stilwell, Oklahoma, and died November 27th, 2012 in Anchorage Alaska, he was 53 years old.

Celebration of Life to be held at Jesus Is Lord Church, 1313 E. 3rd Ave, Anchorage Saturday, December 15th, at 2:00 PM. Officiated by a very close family friend and co-worker, Pastor Amotai “Will” Asaivao.

Rick attended Stilwell high school and graduated in 1978, after graduation he got into the construction industry.

Rick married Dana Hodge on July 10th, 1993 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, they lived and worked in Tahlequah, Oklahoma a few years then moved to Alaska in 1995 and began raising his Alaska family. Payton, age 13, Micah, age 8, and Paisley, age 4.

Rick spent his first years in Alaska working in Dutch Harbor where he became a member of the Local 302 Operating Engineers, and became a heavy equipment and crane operator. Rick gained notoriety as being one of the best in his trade.

In 2001 Rick and family moved to Anchorage and continued working as a crane and equipment operator and job foreman for Neeser Construction.

Rick’s friendly, outgoing, and professional nature was respected by all his coworkers. He was passionate about his family and friends and loved by all. Rick was very considerate and always asked others about their families, and was known for his funny jokes and tales that made everyone smile and laugh.

Anyone that knew Rick always had a funny story to tell of his wit and antics. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him; his legacy will live on with everyone that his life has touched.

Rick is survived by his father, Farris Gaches and wife, Shirley of Stilwell, OK; Rick’s loving wife, Dana Gaches, children, Payton, Micah, and Paisley Gaches all of Anchorage; sons, Jeff Ward and wife, Cathy of Stilwell, OK, and Jeremy Gaches of Mannford, OK; sister, Katherine Sellers of Braggs, OK; half- brother, Tracey Hoover and wife Shelly of Tulsa, OK.  Rick is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Addison and Ayva Elk of Stilwell, OK, Cheyenne Riley, Jason Estep, and Laramie Ward all of Stilwell, OK; father-in-law, Bill Hodge and wife, Sandy of Tahlequah, OK, mother-in-law, Marti York and husband, Chuck of Anchorage, AK; brother -in -law Bryan Hodge and wife, Laura of Tahlequah, OK; sister-in-law, Amanda Hodge Mascho and husband, Brian of Anchorage, AK; there are several nieces and nephews, along with many, many friends and loved ones.

Rick is preceded in death by his Grandparents Pearl and Boyd Gaches, and Frank and Goldie Thurber; Mother Mary Ann (Burgess) Gaches; 2 brothers Darrell Edwin and William Boyd Gaches.
