Thresa Lee Brown

1929 - 2013


— Thresa Lee Brown began her life on November 9th, 1929 in the Warrior Community near Checotah. She attended Warrior Community School and later attended and graduated from Rentiesville High School. Having goals and desires she attended college in Durant, Oklahoma where she received her teacher ‘s credentials. She devoted many years as a headstart teacher for Deep Fork Action Head Start. Thresa was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Oktaha, where she served as a church clerk assistant and a member of the Mission Sisters. She was a good faithful servant at New Hope until her health rendered her unable to attend.

Thresa was called to heaven’s gate on January 20th, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Grant Jackson, Sr. Her brothers, Delton Jackson, Sr., Grant Jackson, Jr. and Walter Jackson, and three sisters, Queen Ester Debouse, Mary Jackson and Erma Jean Manis. The family she leaves to cherish her memory include her husband of eleven years, Henry Brown, Sr., Muskogee, OK, four daughters, Linda Menifee, Oklahoma City, OK, Telma Hardison, Plano, TX, Barbara Land (William), Boynton, OK, and Shevetta Lee, Tulsa, OK, one son, Jerald Ford (Dee Anna), Redding, CA, four stepchildren, Ray Brown, Broken Arrow, OK, Ricky Brown and Patricia Brown Robinson, both of Oklahoma City, OK and Henry Brown, Jr., Oktaha, OK. One special friend, Flossie Reed, Tulsa, OK, two sisters, Ruth Fields, Checotah, OK and Freddie Ashley (Nathan) Tulsa, OK, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandson and five generations and counting of nieces, nephews and other devoted family members.

The going home service for Thresa will be held on Saturday,  January 26th, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Checotah First Baptist Church. Rev. Leonard Lang will perform the eulogy. Her visitation hours will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
