John Edd Kelley


— John Edd Kelley, Sr., 72, longtime Boynton resident went to be with the Lord, Friday February 1, 2013 at the VA Medical Center. He was born on August 12, 1940 to James and Dortha (Wells) Kelley in Dos Palace, California. John Edd attended and graduated high school and later attended college. He served his country in the US Army where he worked for thirty years. John Edd married the love of his life, Flora Smith on his birthday, August 12, 1961. They raised their four children and shared fifty one years of marriage. John Edd did many things in his life after his military career retiring from Carrier Corporation most recently. He had many hobbies that included racing, fishing and the food ministry at the church. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wainwright.

John Edd was preceded in death by his parents; eldest son John Edd “Eddie” Kelley, Jr.; two brothers, Gene Kelley and James Kelley; sister Ruth Ellen Braswell and great grandson Tyler Snyder. John Edd is greatly loved and leaves behind many family members and friends to cherish his memory. He is survived by his wife Flora of the home; daughter Rebecca Kelley of the home; sons James and his wife Sandra of Glenpool, Joe and his wife Michelle of Porter; ten grandchildren Robyn Spesert and Rodney Cockrell, Randy Snyder and wife Alissa, Suzan Rowe and husband Sean, Levi Kelley and wife Kristina, Brandi Kelley, Paula Kelley and Kevin Reynolds, Bryant, Maria, Lillie and Kenny Kelley; seven great grandchildren Bryan Keeling, Preston Padilla, Clara Belle Reynolds, Aubrey Kelley, Shaye Lynn Rowe, Sadie Rowe and Jordan Snyder; two brothers, Ted Kelley and wife Sue and Joe C. Kelley and wife Jane; host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Wainwright with Reverend David Yarbrough and Reverend Sterlin Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Kelley, Kevin Kelley, Brian Kelley, Heath Wells, Alan Kees and Terry Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hart, Ronny Crawford, David Newton and Bill Wells.

Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Checotah Funeral and Cremation Service.
