Merlene Elizabeth Shultz

1938 - 2014

Merlene Elizabeth Shultz, 76, passed from this earth, Thursday evening, June 5, 2014 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born March 10, 1938 in Muskogee to Merl and Nellie (Anderson) Birth. She married Frank Shultz on January 20, 1980. She was an active member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed crafting, sewing and scrapbooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughters, Trudy Ramey and Kathy Jo Lawson; two brothers Gerald Wayne and Larry Birth; sister Carol Hammond and grandson Dale Ramey.

Merlene is survived by her children, Eddie Lawson and wife Cheryl of Muskogee; Brenda Lawson and Theressa Lawson both of Muskogee and Thomas Lawson, Jr. of Wagoner; eleven grandchildren; special granddaughter Merle Welch-Fritz; several great grandchildren; sisters, Lavon McFarland and Alice Koehn both of Muskogee and Paula McLain of Vinita, OK; brother Darrell Birth of Moffett, OK ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and special lifetime friend Thelma Foster.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in the Green Hill Cemetery in Muskogee under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home.
