“Bob” Combs, age 83 of Muskogee, Oklahoma was born in Dewey, Oklahoma on August 30, 1930 to Nathonian and Ethel (Gostnell) Combs and he passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Eastar Hospital while surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. After graduating from high school, Bob continued on to receive his Associate Degree in the field of Accounting. He later joined the United States Army and served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal prior to receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Military.
Bob returned to Muskogee, Oklahoma and worked for the U.S.P.S. for over 25 years as a carrier, delivering mail and packages to Muskogee residents. He was a workaholic of sorts and could be found making sure he was always someone useful. He worked for 18 years for Lakeland Florist, delivering flowers and making his time and delivery knowledge useful to others. He could often be found working on the church where he served as a Deacon since 1972 at Hillcrest Christian Fellowship Church at 808 Country Club Road here in Muskogee.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Roy, Frankie and Thomas Combs. Two sisters, Vonnie and Anne.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte of the home. Four sons, Larry Combs and wife Brenda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Anthony Combs and wife Patricia of Muskogee, Lynn Combs of Fort Gibson and Robert (Yogi) Combs, Jr. of Muskogee. One daughter, Patricia Combs of Muskogee. Three brothers, James Combs of Wichita, Kansas. Two step-brothers, Vernon Combs of Bartlesville and Victor Combs of Dewey. Two step-sisters, Nancy Cooper and Sherry Golden of Dewey, Oklahoma. Fifteen grandchildren, Sixteen great grandchildren and Three great great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23rd, 2014 at the Hillcrest Christian Fellowship Church, 808 N. Country Club Rd in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Burial will follow 1:00 PM at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with military honors.
